Feltworkers Experiment N°1

Feltworker – the very best of Felt Art & Design – starts its first group event “Feltworker’s experiment N°1 ”.

Founded in 2015 by Cindy Larrat, Maria Friese and Ariane Mariane, “Feltworkers” aims to highlight contemporary felt work of talented textile artistes and designers. On their FB page the 3 women regularly share their felted favorites to show off the beauty of this ancestral textile technique revisited by contemporary crafters. Today’s felt is an art domain on itself!

For 2016 they decided to push “Feltworkers” further and are launching their first event. During at least one year they will work with 2 famous Japanese feltmakers: Atsuko Sasaki and Terumi Ohta.

Motivated by the observation that through internet one can make friends and co-work with people from all over the world Feltworkers wants to connect the oldest human textile technique with modern communication techniques. This French – Japanese textile collaboration allows to get to know each other, get insights in both cultures and share knowledge and passion for felt.

Together they’ll create a collection of work for a common exposition which will be shown on the internet and later on in brick and mortar shows (all around the globe ;)).

The chosen theme for this first experiment is “Black & White” . This is the main subject which will open to other themes like “Calligraphy”, “Perfect- Imperfect”, “Shadows”…

The exchange of thoughts as well as samples of work will allow to build up a common vision in which each of the artiste is recognizable and in the same time part of a whole.
